Scott Wildgoose MLGP
Chief Executive Officer
Shire of Gingin

Please outline your experience and involvement with LG Professionals WA and the WA Local Government Sector.
I am currently the CEO at the Shire of Gingin, and the Deputy President of LG Professionals WA. I have been employed in the WA Local Government sector for 12 years and worked across both metropolitan and country Local Governments.
I currently Chair the Board’s Policy and Legislative Committee and represent the sector on the Department’s Regulation Reform working group. I am a Board representative on the Young Professionals Advisory Board, and the Integrated Planning and Reporting Network, and have also previously been involved with the State Conference Committee.
I have been involved with LG Professionals WA throughout my Local Government career and value the important role the association plays in developing and representing industry professionals.

Please outline your reasons in nominating to be a Board Member of LG Professionals WA.
LG Professionals WA has expanded its influence and membership value in recent years, and as the current Deputy President, I am excited to see what the next chapter of the association with a new CEO at the helm looks like. I want to provide a layer of consistency for the Board and association but also support the new CEO to invest their energy into making further innovations and improvements. I want to continue to be an active contributor towards the associations growth and challenge the way things work to ensure the best value proposition is delivered for the membership. As a board member I enjoy representing the needs of both country and metropolitan professionals to ensure the association remains relevant to as many members as possible. I am a strong supporter of the association’s advocacy work and believe consistent messaging and strong relationships are key to long term success.
I believe my skills and experiences can ensure projects such as Data Drives Decisions, Careers Campaign, Competency Framework, and the Website Refresh are well supported and succeed. I want to continue to give back to the sector and support the development of the association and professionals working in Local Government.

Please outline your skills and qualities that would help to enhance the Association as a Board Member.
As an existing Board Member and Local Government CEO, I have strong sector and association knowledge. I have experience working in strategy, and business development roles as well as delivering major projects.
As a relatively young CEO, I believe I bring a dynamic viewpoint and appreciation for those at all levels of the Local Government organisational hierarchy.
I have strong advocacy skills, having met with various Ministers and Director Generals as a Local Government CEO and LG Professionals Board Member.
I am genuinely committed to working in the best interests of the sector and the associations members and communicate openly to overcome barriers.

Please outline your priorities if successfully elected as a Board Member of LG Professionals WA.

  1. Continue to be an active member of the Regulations Reform working group to ensure the Department hears the views of the sector and we can work towards an improved or at least not worse regulatory environment.
  2. Support the refresh of the LG Professionals WA website to make it more user friendly and relevant to members.
  3. Actively support the new association CEO as she transitions into the role to ensure financial and operational sustainability for the association.
  4. Continue to review member value and the financial viability of service offerings and projects.
