Procurement Fundamentals Workshop

Local Government officers involved with procurement processes are invited to register for our Procurement Fundamentals Workshop. This workshop will assist delegates to develop an understanding of procurement functions with specific focus given to strategic and sustainable elements specifically applicable to local government.

Workshop Topics:


  • Minimising regulatory and procurement risk and increasing assurance.
  • Developing a clear understanding of good procurement practices and underlying procurement principles.
  • Effective procurement planning and strategy development.
  • Understanding the procurement process and its different stages and methods involved.


Learning Outcomes:


  • Be able to describe contract development in relation to the procurement lifecycle and understand basic procurement principles.
  • Recognise sound procurement planning processes and how they assist in good contract development.
  • Be able to identify risk mitigation strategies for procurement risk and to apply them within the procurement process.
  • Understand the regulatory framework for Local Government as it pertains to procurement.
  • Understand the approach to market and different forms of contract.
  • Be able to identify the key requirements in the evaluation process and subsequent formation of contract. 

 

Workshop Presenter - John Filippone
John is a procurement professional and the Director of Procurement Plus. A consultancy business that he established to deliver procurement and policy advisory services to State and Local Government, Not-for-Profit organisations and small business enterprises.

John has an extensive background in procurement and contract management, policy development and advice, and project implementation. His extensive experience as a senior executive in the State and Local Government sectors has led to his direct involvement in many high-profile projects and contracts over the course of his career.

With more than 25 years' experience developing and managing contracts across the energy, ICT, general goods and services and works environment John has experience of the full range of procurement processes. He is well placed to share his knowledge and direct experience with local governments.
