Young Professionals Advisory Board - Expressions of Interest

If you are passionate about helping local government young professionals to have a voice in the sector, consider joining the LG Professionals WA Young Professionals Advisory Board! (YPAB)
The Advisory Board has been in place for about 18 months and it has a strong and clear purpose of “Ensuring the voice of young professionals working in local governments are considered and reflected through the support provided by LGP WA to its members with the aim to attract and retain young professionals within the sector. The Advisory Board has a reporting responsibility to the LGP WA Board of Management on current and emerging challenges and opportunities experienced by young professionals working in local government.

The YPAB strategic plan guides the key actions for the next 12 months with the following key objectives:
- Opportunities to engage with young professional members to understand their needs and challenges
- Two way engagement with senior leaders’ to gain their perspective of young professionals and build an understanding of young professionals and leaders in the sector
- Continuing advocacy in recruiting and attracting young professionals into the local government sector
- Providing opportunities to upskill and build capabilities to empower young professionals and to provide an understanding to other members regarding the values of young professionals in local government

Who are we looking for?
- Members who are Young Professionals with LG Professionals WA
- Ability to attend regular one hour meetings (every two months) either in person or virtually
- Keen drive and passion to represent young professionals in local government
- Commitment to contribute to activities as outlined in the strategic plan
